  1. Phillimores Hampshire Parish Records Volume 8.

  3. There are 10 files with this index for volume 8.
  4.  
  5. MARR8_A.txt, which has the names, date, and parish of the marriage 
  6. entries for HIGHCLERE, BURGHCLERE, EWHURST, WOLVERTON, ROWNER, and
  7. NEWTOWN.

  11. MARR8_B.txt, contains the same for LITCHFIELD, NEWNHAM, HERRIARD,
  12. TUFTON, and WHITCHURCH.

  15. In some cases there is additional information in the volume that has
  16. not been included in these files and if you find an entry of interest
  17. the volumes or the fiche should be checked in case additional 
  18. information is available.
  19. I would stress that I have not attempted to transcibe all the
  20. information in these volumes. The purpose was to provide an index
  21. to the names contained in them.  The MARR8_A and MARR8_B files
  22. were compiled using only the information that was necessary to 
  23. compile the index. Titles, occupations, parish of residence etc.,
  24. have not been included. As there were a number of instances in this
  25. volume of the persons age being given, I have included this as this 
  26. could be helpful for those tracing their ancestors.
  27. The files have been compiled on MS Dos text editor to ensure they
  28. can be opened on most computers without difficulty. They can be
  29. opened using most Windows wordprocessors, and if a non true-type
  30. font is used, it should not change the column alignment.

  32. The index to the names in the above 2 files are in four files,
  33. H8A_C.txt, H8D_J.txt, H8K_Q.txt, and H8R_Z.txt 
  34.  
  35. OTHERS8.txt contains names, other than those whose marriages are 
  36. recorded, that are mentioned in volume 8. These are generally 
  37. parents, or ministers.
  38.  
  39. ALIAS8.txt  contains aliases given in the volume. Also where the
  40. entry was not clear when they were being transcribed, and another
  41. possible spelling or name is contained in the volume, this has been
  42. included. This file has been sorted alphabetically for both the
  43. register name and also the alias or altenative name.
  44.  
  45. PARISHES.txt gives the names of all the parishes included in the 16
  46. volumes of the Phillimore Hampshire Parish Records.
  47.  
  48. With this set of files for volume 8, all volumes from 1 to 8 have now
  49. been indexed. Now half way through the 16 volumesof this series.  Files 
  50. for these are available on a number of genealogical BBS's around the world.
